This great road trip provides plenty of curves, corners, and fun elevation changes, with sections of the great driving road follows the Lake Travis shoreline.
COUNTY ROAD 328 and COW CREEK ROAD
Combined together, County Road 328 and Cow Creek Road is 9 miles of great Texas Hill Country driving road that passes through the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge. This fun road trip follows Cow Creek, crossing the creek several times.
CRANES MILL ROAD and FISCHER STORE ROAD
Combined together, Cranes Mill Road and Fischer Store Road is 10 miles of great Texas Hill Country driving road. Avoiding the often tourist clogged roads in the area, these two back country roads offer a leisurely ride through the Texas Hill Country with nice curves and scenic views.
FARM TO MARKET ROAD 690
Farm to Market Road 690 is 7 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road that runs along the shoreline of Buchanan Lake. This curved and scenic rural road passes through the rolling hills that surround the Buchanan Lake area.
FARM TO MARKET ROAD 1050
Farm to Market Road 1050 is a 15 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road. Beginning in the beautiful and popular Garner State Park area, the road quickly becomes a series of curves and elevation changes that are carved through the rocks and hills.
FARM TO MARKET ROAD 1174
Farm to Market Road 1174 is a 15 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road passing through the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge. This road trip provides nice curves, elevation changes, and scenic views across the Texas Hill Country.
FARM TO MARKET ROAD 1341
Farm to Market Road 1341 is an 18 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road. If riding from the great driving roads around Comfort to those around Kerrville, this road is a nice alternative for staying off the major interstate.
FARM TO MARKET ROAD 1431
Farm to Market Road 1431 is a 35 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road that runs from the Austin metroplex area, to the popular tourist town of Marble Falls. Leaving the Austin area, this road quickly turns into a two lane rural road with nice curves, elevation changes, and great scenic views across the Texas Hill Country. In Marble Falls, don’t forget to stop for a famous slice of pie.
PARK ROAD 4
Park Road 4 is a 14 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road. Running along Inks Lake shoreline, and Inks Lake State Park, the road is filled with curves and roller coaster elevation changes. As the road begins its uphill climb towards Longhorn Cavern State Park, the views across the Texas Hill Country are spectacular.
RIVER ROAD
River Road starting in New Braunfels, is a 12 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road. Diving into the Guadelupe river canyon, this road trip follows the Guadelupe river, crossing it multiple times, eventually climbing out of the river canyon near the popular Canyon Lake area.
RANCH ROAD 32 (Devil’s Backbone)
Ranch Road 32 is 20 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road. Historically, this great driving road was a narrow two lane road with challenging and even dangerous curves through the Devil’s Backbone section. The 3 mile portion through Devil’s Backbone, now as an extremely wide shoulder, regardless, the curves and views across the Texas Hill Country are still worth a visit.
RANCH ROAD 335 (THREE TWISTED SISTERS)
Ranch Road 335, one of the Three Twisted Sisters, is a 30 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road. Initially passing numerous ranches, as this road trip enters Real County, things become interesting with a series of curves, quick elevation changes, and scenic views through areas carved into the rocks and hills. Being one of the Twisted Sisters roads, makes it one of the best driving roads in the Texas Hill Country.
RANCH ROAD 336 (THREE TWISTED SISTERS)
Ranch Road 336, one of the Three Twisted Sisters, is a 25 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road. This road trip is a series of curves and quick elevation changes, running through areas carved into the rocks and hills. Being one of the Twisted Sisters roads, makes it one of the best driving roads in the Texas Hill Country.
RANCH ROAD 337 (THREE TWISTED SISTERS)
Ranch Road 337, one of the Three Twisted Sisters, is a 60 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road. This road trip is driving bliss, filled with curves, elevation changes, and fantastic scenic views. Being one of the Twisted Sisters roads, makes it one of the best driving roads in the Texas Hill Country.
RANCH ROAD 470
Ranch Road 470 is a 30 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road that leads to town of Bandera, the self proclaimed Cowboy Capital of Texas. This fun road trip, filled with curves, elevation changes, and scenic views, is often overlooked due to its proximity to the Three Twisted Sisters roads.
RANCH ROAD 965
Ranch Road 965 is a 26 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road that passes the popular Enchanted Rock State Park recreation area. This fun road trip is filled with nice gentle curves with great scenic views, making this a worthwhile drive.
RANCH ROAD 1376
Ranch Road 1376 is a 33 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road, filled with gentle curves and scenic views that takes you to Luckenback Texas. In the town of Luckenback, make sure to stop and enjoy this quaint and fun location, famous for country and western music.
RANCH ROAD 2341
Ranch Road 2341 is a 20 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road that leads to the Canyon of the Eagles Park. Filled with gentle curves and scenic views, this road is carved through the rocks and hills of the Buchanan Lake area. If visiting during the winter, make sure to stop by the park to view the bald eagles that make this their winter vacation home.
SKYLINE ROAD
Skyline Road is a 2.5 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road just South of the town of Comfort Texas. There are a few residential entrances, but traffic is minimal, with a wonderful mix of curves, elevation changes and scenic views.
TEXAS STATE HIGHWAY 16
Texas State Highway 16 is a 40 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road running form the town of Kerrville, to the town of Bandera. Kerrville and Bandera, both popular tourist towns, offer fun distractions while enjoying road trips in this area, that are filled with curves and scenic views.
TEXAS STATE HIGHWAY 39
Texas State Highway 39 is a 35 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road. Initially this road trip parallels the Northern portion of the Guadalupe River, crossing it several times. As the road moves away from the river, the landscape opens up, offering scenic views as the road snakes its way through the Texas Hill Country.

US HIGHWAY 83
This portion of US Highway 83 is a 70 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road, running from Interstate 10 to the town of Concan. This road trip intersects with Ranch Road 337, the best driving road in the Texas Hill Country, in the town of Leakey, and also passes the popular and scenic Garner State Park.
US HIGHWAY 377
This portion of US Highway 377 is a 45 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road. Being on the far side of the Three Twisted Sister roads from major Texas metroplexes, this road offers an uncrowded and scenic alternative for accessing the best Texas Hill Country driving roads.
WELGEHAUSEN ROAD
Welgehausen Road is a 4 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road. Short but sweet, this fun road trip is on a very rural road containing a series of curves, elevation changes, and scenic views of the back side of the Enchanted Rock State Park.
WILLOW CITY LOOP
Willow City Loop is a 12 mile stretch of great Texas Hill Country driving road passing through several ranches. Filled with curves, elevation changes, and great scenic views, this very rural road does have multiple cattle and low water crossings which can be hazardous for low profile vehicles. This road trip is extremely popular in the spring time when wildflowers are in bloom, so plan accordingly.
